SHUJI KOBAYASHI GREW UP IN TOKYO, JAPAN.

SHUJI MOVED TO THE U.S. IN JANUARY OF 1989 TO PURSUE HIS DREAM OF BECOMING A HOLLYWOOD FILM DIRECTOR. AT FIRST, HE WAS PLANNING TO ATTEND A FILM SCHOOL, BUT COLLEGE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES OPENED HIS EYE TO PHOTOGRAPHY.

AFTER COLLEGE, HE FURTHERED HIS EDUCATION AT ART CENTER COLLEGE OF DESIGN. DURING THAT PERIOD, IRVING PENN, HERB RITTS, AND JOEL-PETER WITKIN WERE AMONG SOME OF HIS SOURCE OF INSPIRATION.

AFTER GRADUATING ART CENTER FOR BFA IN PHOTOGRAPHY, SHUJI BEGAN TO SHOOT VARIOUS CELEBRITIES AND PUBLISHED IN MANY JAPANESE FASHION AND MOVIE MAGAZINES.

SHUJI KOBAYASHI HAD BEEN RESIDED IN LOS ANGELES FOR 20 YEARS AND IS NOW BASED IN TOKYO.
